Search Warrants as an Investigative Tool


In this course of instruction, the attendee (s) will be made aware that not every investigation requires the execution of a search warrant. They will learn that a search warrant is an effective tool for obtaining investigative evidence.

You will learn the benefits and risks of obtaining a warrant and the procedural requirements for execution and use of search warrants by Investigators. It includes guidelines regarding the execution of the search warrant and the seizure of evidence, computers, and contraband. Further, it sets forth the proper procedures for maintaining the chain of custody and transferring evidence to the forensic lab.
